briefly explained
- The Tower in the Lake is located in Lake Reschensee, in Graun im Vinschgau. From the main road, you can directly turn into the parking lot by the Tower in the Lake. Along the lake promenade, you can admire the tower in all its splendor. In winter, when the lake is frozen, you can even walk to the tower.
- The church tower of the village of Alt-Graun stands in Lake Reschensee because the village was flooded for the construction of a reservoir. In 1950, the sluices of the newly built reservoir were closed for the first time, and the water level was raised by 22 meters.
- Irrigation channel paths are characteristic hiking trails that follow the narrow irrigation channels, which were built centuries ago and served the people until the 19th century to water their fields. Today, only about a dozen of the many irrigation channels in Upper Vinschgau are still in operation, and they are among the most popular hiking trails in South Tyrol.
- Bunkers are architectural relics from the interwar period, embedded in the surrounding forests and pastures. These hidden fortresses were part of the Alpine Wall but were never used militarily. History enthusiasts should not miss the guided bunker tours in summer.
Reschensee Guest Pass
- Yes, in the Reschensee holiday region there is a guest card – the so-called Reschensee Guest Pass. It is available to all guests staying in a member accommodation of the Reschensee holiday region. The Reschensee Guest Pass offers many included and bonus services for you and your stay.
- The Reschensee Guest Pass is the guest card for the area of the Reschensee holiday region. Upon arrival, it will be sent digitally via e-mail by the accommodation to the guest, who can then use it for the duration of their stay. The Guest Pass is included in the stay. The guest card covers all public transport and public cable cars of the Südtirolmobil network. In addition, the Reschensee holiday region offers numerous included and bonus services that guests can use.
- The Südtirol Guest Pass is the general term for the guest card throughout South Tyrol and its basic services – the included public transport and cable cars of the Südtirolmobil network. When staying in a specific region in South Tyrol, the Südtirol Guest Pass may carry a different name. In such cases, you as a guest enjoy region-specific benefits, such as included or bonus services in addition to the basic services. Guests of the Reschensee holiday region, for example, receive the “Reschensee Guest Pass” (formerly known as the Vinschgau Card), since our guests enjoy many additional included and bonus services on top of the mobility benefits.
- Yes, the Reschensee Guest Pass can be used for the entire duration of your stay and is therefore also valid for arrival and departure. Please check the period indicated on the Guest Pass. The Reschensee Guest Pass is issued by participating accommodations at check-in or pre-check-in and sent via e-mail. The e-mail contains the Südtirol Guest Pass digitally (as a mobile website or PDF), which can be added to the wallet. Alternatively, the PDF version can be printed out at check-in or already during pre-check-in.
- Yes, the Reschensee Guest Pass must be validated at the beginning of each ride. Regardless of whether you have the Guest Pass as a physical card or in digital form, you must validate it before using certain services. Validation is done by scanning the QR code at the blue validation devices on the buses. For train and cable car rides, validation must take place before boarding, e.g. at the train station or cable car stations.
An “OK” on the display and an acoustic signal confirm successful validation.
A second validation is not required when changing trains.
Attention: Some buses on line 273 do not have validation devices, as these may be
Austrian buses. On this line, the Reschensee Guest Pass is therefore valid as a visual pass.
- The Reschensee Guest Pass is only offered by accommodations that are members of the Reschensee holiday region. This can be considered when searching for accommodation. Unfortunately, the Reschensee Guest Pass cannot be purchased. Alternatively, however, there are so-called Mobilcards, which can be bought as day or multi-day tickets for public transport.

Important rules:
- Dogs must be kept on a leash and wear a muzzle. Guide dogs are exempt from the muzzle requirement.

Seasonal highlights

- The cattle drives in the Reschensee holiday region always take place in the first weeks of September. Usually on weekends, cows, sheep, and goats are brought back from the alpine pastures down to the valley. The return of the cattle is celebrated with smaller or larger "Almabtrieb" festivals. The dates for the respective "Almabtriebe" are usually announced shortly before and can be found on our homepage under events.
- The latest information about church services can be found in the current parish bulletin of the respective parishes. These are updated in German language.
- Törggelen is a local tradition, especially known in Lower Vinschgau, as well as in central and eastern South Tyrol. In the Reschensee holiday region, there are a few restaurants that offer Törggelen menus upon request. Examples include Hofschank Planöf, Burgschänke Schluderns, as well as the Melager and Matscher alpine pastures.
