Visit one of the oldest preserved churches in Europe.

The small church of St Benedict from the 8th century AD has Carolingian wall paintings inside, which are among the oldest frescoes in Western Europe.

A building from the 8th century. The Romanesque tower dates from the 12th century. The paintings and Carolingian frescoes inside are among the oldest in the entire German-speaking world. The church harbours the world's only portrait of a Frankish landlord.


Opening time:

Thursday and Saturday from 10:00 am - 11:30 am

Closed on Sundays and public holidays


Guided tours (only in German or Italian):

Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 2.00 pm (German) and 2.45 pm (Italian)


Price: €3.00 per person; with guided tour €5.00 per person

Lake Resia Guest Pass holders have admission to the church included every Saturday. The valid Lake Resia Guest Pass must be shown in order to use this service as an inclusive service.
